"...Los Sugar Kings, a multicultural Latin band from the Boston area. Their new CD, LSK, features original material, mostly written by Patino Vazquez, charismatic bon vivant and son of Cuban exiles, who along with funk-based session musician Daniel Abreu is as comfortable with the Cuban Son, ballads or all out blues. The amazing rhythm section of Ethiopian born Mikael Mersha and virtuoso drummer Benny Benson, who acts as the glue, a cross between Ginger Baker and Tito Puente, of unclear origin but who could have been born in Belfast or Camaguey. So what explains the fact that these guys from four continents sound as Latin as yours truly? I leave you with this theory: Close inspection of maps of the pre-Jurassic Pangaea show that the center of this supercontinent laid somewhere around Cuba, and the world was one, proof that we all are to some extent Latin and Cuban music can once again unite the world." - Ricardo Fernandez, Editor - Zingology
